Snow’s Chess Academy was formed in 2004 originally to be a part time operation serving residents in retirement and assisted living communities.

It’s founder, Peter Snow, a native of Northern VA had taught chess five years prior to the founding of the company in his own childrens’ elementary school.

After helping a friend run a Cub Scout chess tournament in 2005, he was approached by the parent of one of the scouts who asked him if he would be willing to teach about half a dozen children once a week in his home.

The new model was born and by word of mouth the business grew, and by March of 2008 it was time to go full time!

Today Snow’s Chess Academy employs several teachers and serves thousands of students in private and public schools, home schools, alternative schools, Co-ops, and also through private and semi-private lessons, camps, clinics, clubs and tournaments.

Thanks be to God, and my customers, without you I would not be in the business I love so much!
